You make the mistake of assuming that what Pinterest offers is what users want. Having used both, I'll be sticking to Flickr, thanks.

Good point Wendy - I have the feeling that both the President and the American people will be more engaged than ever before to turn this country around. This is a grandiose development.

Axel,
What I hope to see is the reaching out to Obama and other candidates by the population who wants to publicly encourage, change, refute, or otherwise make sure their candidates answer questions, state their views and allow us to know the man who might lead this country. This is the time to share and decide who you can trust. Will the candidates be our Trust Agents?

Businesses need to be where the voice of their customer is and as individuals we will choose the social networks that are personally relevant to us. We simply cannot be everywhere in the social ECO system and really provide the same level of engagement, there are only 24hrs in a day after all. So we may gravitate towards a few social networks that meet our personal needs those where we can really engage, build our personal networks and contribute to the Eco system. I guess the question of do we need more social networks comes down to personal value, do the many networks that we use today address all of our personal needs? for engagement in the social ECO system. Is there a GAP? What’s missing? Any new social network that comes along will have to demonstrate real personal value and fill a missing GAP between what exists today. Otherwise for me early adopters may initial join up but in the end adoption will just fizzle away as has happened with many other new endeavors in social spaces/places before, take Google BUZZ as a case in point. In essence social media is an evolving landscape and what is relevant today may not be tomorrow. Sure there is room for more it is all about innovation, can’t wait to see how Microsoft SOCL fits in, if indeed it makes it out of their research group to real world.

I agree, but had never though of it that way. You can make some solid connections on LinkedIn, but you're write - I don't connect with people there like on other social media platforms.

I have to agree with you and further to the unhappiness? /concern of tweeps is the issue of accounts being hijacked and it being very difficult to get a response from the 'powers that be' a friend had his 12K plus followers scooped when his handle was appropriated and quite a few of us openly tweeted to try to get him help.. days it took..
When we comment or question an issue on Google+ it is amazing how quickly folks respond.. how the user is taken seriously and our needs/ wants/ issues are a matter of primary importance tot he Google+ Project Team.
I admit I too am loving all of G+ and find the issues on twitter to be uncomfortable to say the least..
I beleive there is room for every platform on the Social Networking circuit. All platforms need to invest in Customer Service Excellence 1st.
Hey Twiiter!!!
You really ought to take the pulse of the tweeps... pay attention- move ahead in a responsible and caring way and you too will remain a beloeved platform for users to interact with on a daily basis... barring a number of changes and soon I see twitter becoming a distant also-ran in the race for Social Networking Engagement.

Alex, like we need to understant to hole world and ecosystem to get motivated to be egological and green generally - same is the sales and marketing. You had to understand customers minds, marketing and selling generally. When having deep experience, like you are writing then the diamond will show up A p p r o a c h a b i l i t y is quite important to corporation, experts and a person who is loaded with skills. When you are easy beach - then you start generating the right audience - no matter which level you are; individual or corporation. I´m hoping thta this will be the next new wave after ROI/ SEO and this engagement push marketing. I have used Xeeme.com/MarkkuTauriainen/ with good results. It is generating right audience for me - I recommend Xeeme as a basic, it works!

Nicely-done, Axel!
This analysis is most helpful! It gives a neat comparison between the pros and cons between the 3 most populated SM platforms and Google+. From my perspective, the most useful element arising from Google+ is probably the concept of Circles, which allows one to categorize and select information stream based on one's sub-networks with different needs and wants.
Vielen dank!

Thanks for the shout out to UPS! We felt it was important to create social media guidelines that were social and shareable. Both the Meltwater and EMC examples are terrific. We're glad to be included in your post.
